The first edition took place in 1990. Today, HTPP is an international conference organized in Europe every two years. The number of participants expected for the 15th edition organized in Toulouse is 120 to 150 people. The subjects discussed concern thermal and non-equilibrium plasmas but a majority of the works presented are related to electric arcs and thermal plasmas. The aim of this congress is to bring together different scientific communities (thermal plasmas and non-equilibrium plasmas) and to facilitate the contacts between science, technology and industry.

When it was founded in 1990, the High-Technology Plasma Processes (HTPP) conference was entirely devoted to the presentation of researches related to processes and applications involving electric arcs and thermal plasmas. In subsequent editions, this conference has gradually been extended to other scientific topics associated to cold non-equilibrium plasmas (at low pressure and atmospheric pressure) but it has remained mainly focused on electric arcs and thermal plasmas. HTPP is today an international conference organized every two years in Europe. It is the main international conference on electric arcs and thermal plasmas. It offers the opportunity to bring together a large part of the European and worldwide scientific community working in this field of research. Many industrial partners (interested by processes and applications involving thermal plasmas or by the phenomena associated with the formation of an electric arc) are also present during HTPP conferences: in the field of electrical breakdown (high and low voltage circuit breakers), metallurgy (welding, cutting and arc furnace), aeronautics (aircraft lightning, fault arcs in embedded electrical networks), materials (synthesis of powders, molecules and nanoparticles, thin layers, spraying and etching), waste treatment and valorization (biomass and exhaust gas) ... The 15th HTPP conference will cover topics related to thermal and non-equilibrium cold plasmas, from fundamental aspects to processes and applications.

ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people and the general public.

Our scientific congress HTPP15 has been awarded the "ESOF 2018" label and the Labeling Committee has offered to become an "ESOF satellite event".  https://www.esof.eu

Program ESOF : Brochure_ESOF2018_bilingual_EN_and_FR.pdf

Created in 2004 by EuroScience, this biennial European forum brings together over 4 000 researchers, educators, business actors, policy makers and journalists from all over the world to discuss breakthroughs in science. More than 40% of the participants are students and young researchers.

The 8th edition of ESOF will take place at the Hotel Dieu St Jacques in Toulouse, France, from 9 till 14 July 2018.
